Bluestone School is a large urban primary school situated in west Timaru.
The School has a role of around 500 students and has been developed into four pods, or learning communities. The four pods have a common space and cater for New Entrants to Year 2, Years 3 and 4, Years 5 and 6 and Years 7 and 8.
Thanks to significant investments in teacher professional development, we have a strong school wide approach to teaching and learning. Our students will face an ever-evolving world where many professions which currently exist may not exist in the future. As such, we focus on collaboration, thinking, communication and developing a sense of values and sociability. We also have a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy, especially in the first four years.
ICT (Information and Communication Technology) is widely used throughout the school to enhance teaching and learning. We have a state of the art infrastructure with 40 laptops running wirelessly and with another 40 desktops located in the classrooms.
There are many cultural and sporting opportunities available to our students as well as exciting programmes and environments.
